Disaster resilience by design: a framework for integrated assessment and risk-based planning in Canada

A report outlining key elements of the Pathways framework (GSC Open File 7551). The manuscript is focussed on natural hazard risk reduction and includes chapters that document underlying theoretical principles, a proposed framework for integrated assessment and risk-based planning (Chapter 4), and a case study demonstrating how these methods can be used to support planning and policy development at a community scale (Chapter 5). It is available for download from GeoScan (see reference below).

Just published is an 84-page document that provides the basic material to understand risk management in support of municipal decisions for medium to large urban centres in British Columbia. It supports decisions that can lead to acceptable risk for the use of land affected by natural and man-made hazards. The guide is available for download at:
