Hazus Canada

Helping each other ramp-up to Hazus Level 2

As you may have gathered from the copious "advice needed" posts from me, I am a new Hazus Canada user on a student practicum.  I'm helping set up Level 2 framework data for the Cowichan Valley Regional District for both Flood and Earthquake models.

Data formatting for CDMS/Hazus is a substantial GIS chore during setup, but since fields are standardized across Hazus users, we should be able to share some workflow shortcuts.

Trouble getting highway segments in

Looking for advice on getting road segment lines in.

The data is in proper coordinate system (GCS_North_American_1983)

I looked up required field types in the Hazus data dictionary (Appendix F.6.3.10) and formatted all my data exactly as required (though number of lanes still complains about too many characters even though the field is a short integer with 2 significant digits)

all fields are populated with proper values and no <NULL>'s left

Canadian Perspectives on HAZUS

These thoughts were stimulated by the CanHug call in January ... Sorry they became a bit lengthy!

CDMS crashing when trying to import from MGB?

I am trying to import police facility point data, and schools data, and both do not seem very happy when importing.  I get to the field matching stage, match fields, go through assigning the default values, and at that stage I get an error, though it seems an error in CDMS reporting, though it may be reflecting errors on the importing.

"The definition of the report 'C:\Program files..........\ValidationErrors.rdlc' is invalid.  An unexpected error occurred in Report Processing" ...and a mess of public key token coding and whatnot after that.

How to classify community halls and other areas of shelter?

I am entering point data for essential facilities, and looking for confirmation that things like community centers, town halls, and recreation centers that act as primary or secondary receiving shelters, get classiffied as "Emergency Center Facilities"?

If so, what do Emergency Command Center-type locations get entered as?  Same thing, but with a qualifier?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
