Technical workshop for development of national guidelines on flood mapping

For those who are attending the National Disaster Roundtable, we welcome participants to the  first workshop to be held on the margins of Canada’s Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 6th Annual National Roundtable on November 2nd, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. MST at the Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, in Calgary, Alberta.

The purpose of the workshop is to seek input from technical experts in the field of water resources management and to explore key aspects of potential National guidelines on flood mapping.

Disaster resilience by design: a framework for integrated assessment and risk-based planning in Canada

A report outlining key elements of the Pathways framework (GSC Open File 7551). The manuscript is focussed on natural hazard risk reduction and includes chapters that document underlying theoretical principles, a proposed framework for integrated assessment and risk-based planning (Chapter 4), and a case study demonstrating how these methods can be used to support planning and policy development at a community scale (Chapter 5). It is available for download from GeoScan (see reference below).
