*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*CanHUG members, Please join us next Wednesday, November 19, and share your stories and ideas relating to natural hazard risk assessment and the Hazus tool. This month, we will have a presentation from Matthias Jakob of BGC Engineering on recent hazard and risk assessment work in the flood-affected area around Canmore, Alberta. We will also hear from Nicky Hastings about last month’s National Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction and the Canadian Risk and Hazards Network Symposium in Toronto. As always, we will share the latest news on the Hazus Canada application and events and training of interest. See information to join the meeting below and at Meeting materials and information will be under the Meetings menu and HUG Meetings submenu before the meeting.  Agenda:Meet and greetNews and ViewsPresentation: Multifaceted hazard and risk assessments in the Bow Valley near Canmore, Alberta; Matthias Jakob of BGC Engineering Presenter bio: Matthias Jakob is a geoscientists based in Vancouver. He studied in Germany, Colorado and at UBC, did his Ph.D. on debris flow frequency-magnitude predictions and a post-doc on rockfall hazard ratings for CP Rail. His principal areas of expertise are comprehensive geohazard risk assessments for large capital projects as well as periglacial geomorphology. He's published more than he can remember which can be attributed to either the volume of his publications, early senility or both. I look forward to hearing from you next week, and am available for any questions or ideas relating to the CanHUG group and meetings. Malaika Ulmi To join the online meeting
